I WAS WARNED!

I was warned that the incumbent could be mean and nasty and honestly she even warned me herself. When I told her in May that I would consider running she told me to watch my back. I should note that this is the first promise she has made me that she has kept. But just to set the record straight...

TAX REFORM

I was never in favor of Senate Bill 2. My main two reasons are these...

1. It messes with local control. I always fight for local control because I believe that the best government is the one closest to you. I'd rather Austin and DC do their jobs and leave the locals alone to do theirs. Citizens have the greatest impact at the local level.

2. I believe it is pure and simple politics. SB 2 is not tax reform, it's a misdirection. While we sit around debating its merits, Robin Hood and Little John are robbing us blind. The State needs to fix school financing - period. As long as they kick the can down the road, the longer homeowners and school districts suffer.

Now if you want real tax reform. AFTER they fix school finance, why can we not consider separating property reappraisals with taxation? That is one of the biggest issues we are facing. Maybe it could be tied to the purchase price. I don't all the answers, but I am sure there are better solutions out their.

PUBLIC SAFETY

My opponent is sharing a letter from the Sheriff. It commends her for her support in the 2018 budget process. And well she should be. The Sheriff's department was given the ability to hire 17 new deputies and 4 dispatchers. But is that the full story?

In the minutes from the budget meetings in Aug. 2016, it clearly shows her Nay vote to helmets and bullet proof vests to deputies.

Additionally, I was told by a former high ranking employee that the department would struggle to fill those positions because retention is already a concern. The compensation plan for the department is not competitive and losing deputies to better paying jobs is a regular occurrence. I was showing a home and the person said their spouse works for the department and that what I was told was completely true. And why hasn't the compensation plan been updated? The Court did not want to consider it.

I have done my home work. I've listened to the people.

So long City Council, Hello Ballot

Yesterday afternoon I took the plunge. I resigned my seat on the Allen City Council and placed my name on the Republican primary ballot in March. I am challenging the incumbent for Collin County Commissioner, Precinct 2.

I nearly bawled as I let my friends at the City know. I have been honored to serve the citizens of Allen with so many great people. I leave it in good hands.

So now, I need you more than ever. Please help my bring logical conservatism back to Collin County.

The feedback is in...

Over the past 6 weeks I have been around the County to talk with Mayors, Council members, School Board members, Precinct chairs, Judges and citizens. The response has been clear... PLEASE RUN. People are tired of politics and want action. I am very close to throwing my hat in ring. Your support will make that decision easier.
